About Animal Outreach
Our Mission:
The mission of Animal Outreach, Inc. is to help end pet overpopulation by encouraging responsible pet ownership; promoting spay/neuter programs; and uniting the efforts of rescue groups, animal control agencies, traditional shelters, veterinarians and other concerned individuals.
Our Programs & History:
Our programs focus on improving public education and awareness of animal issues in Ohio, and the operation of a spay/neuter assistance program.
A large component of our public education and awareness program is The Animal Insider, a quarterly publication highlighting animal-related news and events in Ohio. Each issue features informative articles, animals for adoption, an events calendar, and spotlights a local animal welfare agency or animal-related community program. Visit www.Animal-Insider.org to download the latest copy! (requires Adobe Reader)
In 2002, Animal Outreach assumed responsibility for the Central Ohio Spay/Neuter Assistance Program (CO-SNAP) and the Animal Outreach SNAP program was created. SNAP assists income-eligible individuals with the cost of spay/neuter surgeries through the use of vouchers redeemable at select veterinary offices in Central Ohio. Individuals are required to complete a formal application and submit income verification to be eligible for financial assistance.
In 2006, Animal Outreach partnered with Nature's Select to organize the 2nd Annual Adopt-A-Valentine Pet Adoption Benefit event. Adopt A Valentine is a Valentine's Day themed adoption day, currently hosted by a Columbus area doggie daycare. The event provides space for area rescues to show off their adoptable animals, as well as take part in our silent auction. All participating rescues share in the proceeds. A variety of pet-related vendors are also invited to attend. Visit www.AdoptAValentine.com from more information!
Animal Outreach was also one of the lead organizing groups of the Pooch Parade, the nation's largest free dog parade held annually in Worthington, Ohio. The event included more than 50 animal welfare agencies and rescue groups, and attracted more than 2,500 dogs and their owners. We also participate in many other festivals and events in the Central Ohio area to educate the public on responsible pet ownership, the plight of homeless animals, and the importance of spay/neuter.
Founded in 2001, Animal Outreach, Inc. is a nonprofit 501(c) 3 organization supported entirely through public donations.
We are an all-volunteer organization and have no paid staff.
