Ohio Events Calendar (2007)

Looking for something fun and exciting to do, and animal related? Then look no further! Below are a wide variety of "animal events" happening all over Ohio! Whether it's the Pickerington Petfest or the National Weiner Races in Findlay, we've got something for you!

If you're interested in attending any of these events, we urge you to verify dates, times and locations before you go. Keep in mind that there might be lots of people and other animals at any one of these events, so think about safety if your pet doesn't do well in a crowd. Above all, HAVE FUN WITH YOUR ANIMAL COMPANIONS!

7 – 3rd Annual Cruising for Canines Poker Run

Ride begins at Franklin County Dog Shelter, 1731 Alum Creek Drive, and winds through 75 miles of central Ohio landscape. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. first bike leaves at 9.

7 – 7th Annual Pet Expo
Stop by Hardesty Park in Akron from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. for the 7th Annual Pet Expo! 50+ local shelters & 30 vendors will be participating. Admission is free!

8 – Cat Welfare Association at Easton Town Center

Stop by the Easton Community Booth on Sunday, between 12 & 6 p.m. to visit with Cat Welfare Association! CWA will have felines available for adoption, as well as T shirts & catnip pillows for sale.

20 – 10th Annual Take Your Pet to Work Day

First celebrated in 1999, Take Your Dog To Work Day was created to celebrate the great companions dogs make and to encourage their adoption from humane societies, animal shelters and breed rescue clubs. This annual event encourages employers to experience the value of pets in their workplace for this one special day to promote pet adoptions.

28 – 3rd Annual Kitten Shower

Come meet these fabulous felines and make a difference in their lives by donating a gift from our kitten wish list. The Kitten Shower is also a wonderful time to learn about volunteering and fostering for the Humane Society.  The kitten wish list includes Purina Kitten Chow, Purina Cat Chow, Kitten Milk Replacement (KMR,) cat litter, toys, stuffed animals, cat trees, scratching posts, cozy pet beds, blankets, towels, litter scoopers, laundry detergent, hand sanitizer, trash bags, gift cards, monetary donations in any amount, and we always need volunteers and foster families. 400 Columbus Rd. in Mount Vernon.

The purpose of the Doggie Doo is to raise funds for local animal shelters, increase awareness of the plight of homeless dogs, and get people interested in adopting one of the many dogs available.
